About the opera

American couple Sara and Jonathan are in Orkney, Scotland for a year.  She's an oceanographer on a climate-change assignment. He's a writer and trailing spouse. Jonathan wants to start a family. Sara is reluctant. As a scientist, she is concerned about the future of the planet. Greeted with a mix of warmth and suspicion by the locals, Sara finds herself at the center of the conflict between preservation and exploitation, not knowing that her ideals may cost her everything.
