Ninth Annual Edward M. Murray International Competition of Voice

 

Finals Concert: March 30, 2025, 3:00 p.m. 

Hockett Recital Hall, Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY​

The winners of the competition will be announced at the end of the concert.

Tickets are free to the public. Donations are encouraged.

Generously sponsored by Bruno Schickel and Amy Dickinson, Opera Ithaca is hosting the ninth annual Edward M. Murray International Competition of Voice to recognize outstanding emerging singers in the operatic field as well as pay homage to the lifetime achievement of the late Maestro Edward M. Murray who served twenty-five years as the director of the Cornell Symphony Orchestra and over twenty years as the music director of the former Ithaca Opera Association. The winners will be announced at the end of the concert.

Co-commissioned by Opera Ithaca alongside OnSite Opera, Seattle Opera, Opera in the Heights, and Tri-Cities Opera, Lucidity explores themes of memory, consciousness, and the human experience through a poignant, contemporary lens. Through this regional premiere, Opera Ithaca is reaffirming its role as a key player in the national opera landscape. It provides a platform for voices and stories that are too often overlooked.​
